Nothing does the mind, body, and soul more justice than a breath of fresh air. That is exactly what Southern Hip Hop group Rebellious brings to the culture. Pulling in the title and honor of the 2010 South Carolina Music Awards "Group of the Year " and 2011 "Indie Grind of the Year," Rebellious is notably dominating the music scene throughout the state. Their music may combine the ideologies of southern blues and west coast funk, but this hybrid hip hop collective has allowed their creativity and passion to master their music and formulate the Southern Groove sound. Born Mendez Curry (Shawt) and Thomas Glover (G), Rebellious hails from Edgefield County, South Carolina, which is more noted for being the home of Senator Strom Thurmond ,10 South Carolina Governors and the heart of Jim Crow. Their lifetime of experiences has cultivated two artists existing to bring integrity and quality back to the forefront of music. When their 2010 mixtape, The Carolina Blueprint: Ride to the Occasion, took to the streets of South Carolina and the online music community, it raised eyebrows giving Rebellious the attention they were after. The mixtape's recognition and achievement prompted Rebellious to hit the studio and record their latest project, The Carolina Blueprint Vol II: 93 Octane. This body of work still encompasses the Southern Groove sound, but with more conviction, intention, and crafted delivery.
